T3W3 Journal Writing : Effects of Preventive Measures on Pupils

Hi Everyone,

Since we returned to school two weeks ago, we had to take our temperature twice a day. Some of the pupils could not return to school because they were on leave of absence. Our remedial, CCA and other activities have been cancelled or postponed. In this week's reflection, I would like you to discuss how all these have affected you. I have listed some questions below to help you with your reflection:

1. What do you think of the school's preventive measures for H1N1 such as temperature-taking, no assembly in the hall, cancellation of remedial lessons, CCA and other activities?

2. Which activities have affected you?

3. How has the cancellation of these activities affect you in your learning?

4. Do you think the school is less interesting now? Why?

5. Are you relationship with your friends and teachers affected? If 'yes', in what way/s?

6. What do you do with the extra time you have now?

7. Are you activities outside school affected?


My answers:

1)I think because the school is afraid that one of the students in the school got H1N1 so they will do this.

2)High Acheivers and CCA.

3)It never affected me in my learning.

4)Yes, the CCAs are suspended and now is less boring.

5)I do not think that it affects my relationship with my friends and teachers.

6)Sometimes, I do homework, play computer games or watch television programmes.

7)It is not affected.

T2 W10 Journal Writing : Reflections of SA1 Performance

Hi Everyone,

The SA1 is over. Some of us have done well while others have not. For this week, I want you to reflect on your performance in this SA1. To help you do that, I will list some questions for you to ponder over:

1. Do you think the SA1 papers have tested you fairly? If 'Yes', which papers do you consider to be a fair test? If 'No', which papers do you consider to be unfair test?

2. Why do you think the papers have been a fair or unfair test?

3. Do you think you have done well in this semester? If 'Yes', what factors contribute to your success? If 'No', what factors contribute to your poor performance?

4. Do you think the remedial or enrichment classes in school were useful? If 'Yes', why? If 'No', why?

5. If you have home tuition (either by tutors/parents/relatives/etc), do you think this has been useful in improving your results? If 'Yes', why? If 'No', why?

6. What actions would you take to improve on your results after SA1?

7. What actions do you think the school should take to help you with your performance after the SA1?

My answers:

1)Yes, all the papers except for the maths paper 1.
2)The time for the maths paper 1 is not enough.
3)I have not done well in this semester.I could have done better if I work harder.
4)Yes because I have learnt more methods of solving problems.
5)Yes because they teach faster and we can what is about the topics before school teachers teach us.
6)I will study harder to get good results.
7)They could give us more enrichment classes.

T2W9 Journal Writing : Influenza A H1N1

Hi Everyone,

We now have two cases of the Influenza A H1N1 in Malaysia. Will there be a case in Singapore? How much do you understand about this virus? For this week, I would like you to reflect on this topic. To help you, I will list some questions below:

1. What is Influenza A H1N1?

2. How does it spread?

3. Which countries in Asia have people with Influenza A H1N1?

4. How do countries try to prevent the spread of this disease?

5. Do you think the taking of temperature is effective in preventing Influenza A H1N1? Why?

6. What other preventive measures are being taken to combat the spread of this disease in Singapore?

7. What are you doing to prevent the spread of Influenza A H1N1 disease?

My answers:

1)It is a virus which spreads almost everywhere around.
2)It spreads by cough, sneezing and many more...
3)Some countries are Japan, Malaysia and China.
4)They should try not to go to other countries to prevent the spread of this disease.
5)Yes, because by taking of temperature will let you know your temperature whether if your temperature is high or low.You should not be in school but to be at home resting if your temperature is high.
6)Temperature are being taken before you can go in to some places.
7)I will wash my hands before every meal and use my hands to cover my mouth when I sneeze or cough.

T2W7 Journal Writing : Classroom Cleanliness

Hi Everyone,

Do you clean your classroom every day? For this week's journal writing, I would like you to reflect on your classroom cleanliness. To help you with this task, I will list some questions below:

1. Do you think your classroom is clean? Why/Why not?

2. Why do you think it is important to keep the classroom clean?

3. How do you keep your classroom clean every day?

4. Which classroom cleaning activity did you participate in? (sweeping the floor, emptying the basket, cleaning the whiteboard, etc)

5. What have you learnt from this activity?

6. What school values have you learnt from the classroom cleaning activity?

My answers:

1)It is not counted clean as there is litters such as paper and plastic on the floor.

2)There is germs on the ground and if its not clean, the germs will be infected on us and we will get sick.

3)We can keep the classroom clean by sweeping the classroom daily and picking up litters on the floor in the classrooms.

4)Sometimes, I sweep the floor and clean the whiteboard but I do not empty the basket before.

5)I learnt that classroom cleanliness is very important as if there is no classroom cleanliness, we will fall ill.

6)Excellence in everything we do to clean the classroom.

1)It means being kind to someone.

2)Yes, it is important to be kind to people as you can even make friends with people through kindness.

3)We can help people with things that they are unable to do.

4)Iteach my classmates homework when they do not know how to do.

5)I feel very happy that I helped my classmates in their homework when they do not know how to do.

6)I can lend my friends pen or pencil when they forget to bring.

7)I can explain the meaning to them.

T2W5 Journal Writing : Earth Day

Dear students,

Read as much as you can about what people in other parts of the world do on that day. Then reflect on what Earth Day means to you.

Here are some questions to guide you:

My answers:

1)Yes.It is very important to me as saving the Earth counts on everyone.

2)I understand it is to reuse, reduce and recycle and don't litter rubbish on the floor.

3)There will be very less trees and paper if we do not reuse the papers for both sides and we should recycle cans and plastic bottles and more...

4)We can use the paper not only one of the sides only but both sides and we can pick up litters on the floor and throw it into the dustbin if we see.

5)We can switch off the lights for a hour or half an hour to save energy as it is very important.

1)It is the day that we make friends.

2)I do not know how International Friendship Day come about.

3)ASEAN stands for Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

4)No, I only know a little about ASEAN after playing the games and this game is quite fun but hard for me.

5)Yes, I like the activities organised by the school on International Friendship Day because it is very fun and intersting.

6)I do not have any friend in the ASEAN countries.

7)We can organise games that can make friends with people from other countries but it may not be easy to do that.
